Volunteering with Harper Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD) offers a meaningful opportunity to serve a tight‑knit rural community of around 1,300 people spread across 505 square miles, alongside mutual‑aid agreements with six neighboring departments. You'll receive valuable training—from firefighting to EMS and rescue skills—while gaining real-world on‑the‑job experience that varies day-to-day. The role also brings a deep sense of pride, camaraderie, and belonging to a team dedicated to protecting life and property. Whether you're driven by a desire to give back, learn new skills, or be part of a local family, HVFD welcomes you. Meetings are held every second Tuesday at 7 pm—come see how you can make an impact .
